Waterloo Transmissions offers a comprehensive list of transmission repair services — with all work performed by our ASE-certified technicians.
We repair transmissions… almost any transmission. Standard or automatic. High performance or conventional. Full-size, mid-size or compact. Cars, trucks, SUVs, hybrids, crossovers and more. If it has a powertrain, we can service it.
We rebuild transmissions… at our state-of-the-art remanufacturing transmission center, we can remove your current transmission, diagnosis the problem, rebuild it and reinstall it quickly to keep you running.
We install remanufactured transmissions… featuring Certified Transmission remanufactured transmissions. Remanufactured means that an experienced technician has first disassembled the transmission by hand, and then thoroughly inspected and checked each piece. If any component isn't up to factory-new specifications or standards, it is re-machined or replaced with a new part.
We install new transmissions… Need a new transmission or want to upgrade your current transmission for higher performance? We have the right people with the right knowledge to help you make the right choice for the transmission that will fit your needs.
And our installations meet or exceed the manufacturer’s qualifications — our way to earn your trust, give you the peace of mind and reassure you that you made the right choice for your transmission service.
Transmission Service – Flush & Filter… Just like engine oil, transmission fluid needs to be checked and changed regularly — usually once a year. Talk to our ASE-certified techs to determine how often your vehicle should undergo a flush and check. This inexpensive procedure can help head off future costly repairs.
When you bring your vehicle into any of our locations, one of the first actions our ASE-certified technicians perform is a Multi-Check Diagnostic Evaluation. This includes:
1. Scanning your vehicle's computer to check for service codes.
2. Performing a road test (if your vehicle is drivable).
3. Completing an under-car check, looking for any leaks or incorrect adjustments.
Once the Multi-Check Diagnostic Evaluation is completed, the technician will provide you with the results. This way, you know exactly what is going on with your vehicle before we even charge you a dime.
Select the Waterloo Transmissions repair shop convenient for you and talk to a professional transmission tech about your needs.

Before a problem can be fixed, you need to know what is wrong. At Waterloo Transmissions, our transmission repair service begins with an external diagnostic designed to troubleshoot obvious problems that may be affecting your vehicle's performance.
We check for low fluid levels that may indicate a transmission leak, and burnt transmission fluid that often signals overheating. Your car or truck will also be taken for a performance evaluation road test followed by a complete underbody inspection.
After the external diagnostic is finished, we connect your vehicle to our digital code reader, which scans the onboard computer for stored error codes. Finally, we conduct a complete inspection of the various electrical components, sensors, solenoids, and wiring to ensure that everything has been checked.
TRANSMISSION REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
Waterloo Transmissions is experienced in both automatic and manual transmission service and repair. No matter what type of transmission your vehicle has or what the problem is, we can find it and fix it. Worn clutches, faulty electrical wiring, broken solenoids or stripped gears: we do it all.
If the problem requires a new transmission, we will install one of our top-quality remanufactured units. With our skilled technicians and short turnaround, we'll have you back on the road in no time.
Need more muscle than your stock transmission? Sounds like it's time to get a Road Ripper™. Designed for racing and street performance cars, vehicles used for towing heavy loads and plowing snow, the Road Ripper™ is an upgrade you'll never regret.

If you have a high-performance transmission, installing a cooler will lengthen its life and decrease the likelihood of a breakdown. It's perfect for racing or high-performance street cars, and vehicles that regularly haul heavy loads such as a trailer.
TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND FILTER REPLACEMENT
Waterloo Transmission recommends flushing your transmission every 30,000 miles as part of the overall maintenance program for your car or truck. A transmission flush includes cleaning the oil pan and replacing the filter to ensure that your vehicle is performing at full capacity.
A reseal is often all that is needed to fix a low-fluid issue. The process involves the removal of your transmission and the replacement of external seals and other small components to prevent any further leaking.
CLUTCH REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
Clutch having problems? We can fix it! Although replacement may be necessary, sometimes the issue can be fixed with a simple adjustment or new soft parts kit. Whatever the problem, our expertly-trained mechanics can return your clutch to top-performing condition, making sure each and every shift is smooth and effortless.
We provide complete diagnostic services for car and truck differentials, as well as any repairs needed.
DIFFERENTIAL FLUID CHANGE
Differential fluid is vital to keeping the ring gear, pinion gears and axle bearings lubricated. We recommend getting the fluid in your differential changed every 15,000 to 30,000 miles.
CV, U-JOINT AND DRIVE SHAFT REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
Waterloo Transmissions offers complete repair and replacement of driveshaft components. For optimal performance, your vehicle's drive shaft and universal joints need to be inspected regularly. Lubrication is often required for the drive shaft slip joints found in trucks and SUVs.
Hear a squealing sound when you accelerate? Your vehicle might have a bad universal joint, which should be taken care of immediately to avoid serious damage.
CV BOOT REPLACEMENT
The best maintenance for your CV shafts is preventative. We recommend that your drivetrain's CV boots be inspected for tears and cracks every time you have an oil change. Damage like this can allow contaminants into the joint, requiring replacement of both boot and joints.
Hear a clicking or clunking noise when turning your vehicle? Bring it in for service right away, to avoid a much more expensive and extensive repair.
TRANSFER CASE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
If there's something wrong with your transfer case, we've got you covered. We can do any kind of repair or servicing you need, including diagnostics and fluid changes. More serious problems may require remanufacturing or replacement, but with our experienced technicians and builders, you'll have your car back in no time.
